Apple is about to release it's latest edition of the i Phone 6 and sales are expected to be huge. Even though Apple phones are used by only 15% of the people who own a cell phone, Apple will still sell millions of the new unit. With such a small minority of cell phone owners using apple phones it may be possible that Apple will have a hard time staying relevant in the future.
In 2014, Android phones held a 80% share of the cell phone market while Apple held a 15% share. The reason is pretty simple! Android phones prices average around $200 while Apple phones average around $650. With 8 out of 10 people choosing Android over Apple, maybe Apple should be asking it's self, if in the future will people willing to pay three times as much for a cell phone
Quality is important and Apple almost always wins in that category but branding is getting less and less important every day. The history of computers states that devices get cheaper and better over time with the high price devices usually losing market share. So will there be fewer and fewer i Phones in people's pockets? I don't know but it's sure hard to see how apple can stay relevant in the future.
