It's been four years since we elected a Governor in Texas. Finally Governor Perry is on his way out but the odds on favorite to replace him will probably be worse. All I've heard from the Republican candidate is the standard talk of liberty, freedom, founding fathers, tax cuts and job creation. I can swallow most of those issues but here is what I can't swallow and the reason I could never vote for the Republican candidate for Governor of Texas. Not accepting federal funding for Medicaid. The Republicans are such Hippocrates. They profess there love for God yet don't give a damn about the poor. They laid off thousand of teachers cutting school funding to the bone yet the Republicans say education is one of their highest priorities. The Republicans made it almost impossible for a woman to get an abortion yet they want to get more women to join their party. They certainly don't love on the same planet I do.

Trying to be a realist as much as possible I voted early in this election but don't expect my choice of candidate to win. The Democrats have a hard road to victory this election but I cast my vote for them anyway. Do your civic duty and vote because like we've always heard "every vote counts"
