Did you vote this week? 112 million people did! Voting is a great privilege and one that every eligible citizen should exercise. It is the lifeblood of liberty and all good spirituality is on the side of freedom. This election reflected the deepseated social divisions among the effects of the Iraq war, terrorism and economy. The nation was split right down the middle, the left divided from the right as deep as the Grand Canyon. If you are white, rual, religiously observant, or male you marched to the drummer on the right and your band leader is Bush. If you are a minority, urban, 18 to 26, less religious, or a woman you marched to the drummer on the left and your band leader is Kerry. Half of the nation is happy and is playing lots of music. The other half feels the sting of defeat, the only music they hear is when they worry out loud regarding the nations future. Our love of country is our greatest strength, it is what holds us together and sustains us even in dark and difficult times. We are resilient people even in division. We were never more divided than durning the civil war in the middle 1800s. Abe Lincoln delivered his annual message to Congress on Dec. 1, 1862. In his speech he said "In giving freedom we assure freedom to be free, honorable in what we give and what we preserve. We shall nobly save or meanly lose the last best hope for earth". It really dose not matter who your band leader is, it is the band that makes the music. If we just all march together the music is always much better.
I do agree, we must all march together in this world to get along !!! But some other people just do not see it that way,,,,,they beat to a different drum. I hope the world can become a better place to live in soon and things will settle down !!!
