It might as well be a paper weight

Unlike most people I have held off joining the cell phone world. I am usually an early adopter of technology's gizmos but the cell phone has never interested me. It has almost become a social embarrassment not to own one but I still love watching people become slack-jawed and dazed when I tell them I don't have a cell number. It's almost like telling them I have recently emigrated from The Little House On The Prairie and I don't have time to talk on a cell phone because I am still whittling toys for Christmas. They just can't believe I don't own a cell phone. People sometimes say I am too cheap to buy a phone and maintain a monthly contract. It's all in the priorities, I am frugal not cheap. If I were to stop drinking coffee at Starbucks, the money I saved every month would pay for three fourth of my monthly cell phone bill but if I were not full of caffeine I would not talk very much anyway and my new cell phone would become an expensive paper weight.
A cell phone would not bring about a radical new function to my life like the digital camera or a wireless Internet connection has. Besides I really do not want people to find me if I am away from the land line phone in my house. I can see only one advantage to cell phone ownership, phones have clocks on them. Never again would I ever have to spend $1.50 to replace the battery in my watch. Maybe I am cheap!
