Every year about this time heated exchanges between college football fans rise to their loudest. The loudest rants are always about the reform needed to change the current BCS status quo. This is not the first time and it won't be the last time college football advocates changes to the Bowl Championship Series. Ever since it's inception the selection process has unfairly discriminated against teams from smaller athletic conferences and this year defines that point.
I try my best to write from a point of neutrality but with my favorite team in the championship game I find it very hard to wave the discrimination flag, at least this year. It's a team that brought in almost $80 million last year. It's a team so far removed from the "Have-Nots" schools that the distance is almost unbelievable. Colleges know there is more than poll position and bowl pay outs but they all want to be in the championship game. Such recognition will generate booster donations which are at the heart of any "Have" school. A "Have-Not" school would have to sell a lot of halftime hot dogs if they wanted to pay their head football coach $5 million a year like my favorite team does. Booster donations will keep a team on the "Have" sidelines so I demand a free hot dog at halftime maybe some nachos also!
Money always seems to have the loudest voice so I don't think the BCS will change anytime soon. This year I really don't have a dog in this fight because my team plays in the final championship game. Next year will probably be a different story. Come December 2010 I am sure I'll want to unleash all my dogs to complain about the BCS. My team will be down a few spots in the polls and I'll demand a playoff system just like all the other losers always do. Lets face it, money always barks the loudest and garners the most attention. So until a mutt from the pound wins the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show the Bowl Championship Series will never change it's pedigree.
Don't think you should use the dog fight phrase in the text with football.....Can you spell Michael Vick!?

I do not care what you say about the bowl games...no coach and I repeat NO coach should get $5 million I do not care how many games he wins or how many bowls he goes to...so put that one in your bowl and use a spoon !!

He's worth that 5 mill when you consider some of the players he coached and taught the game move on to the next level which in the NFL and some make 20 mill per year!!!!
