Underdogs Comebacks and Destiny

I can not believe this is going to happen! Are the New Orleans Saints actually going to be one of the teams in this years's Super Bowl? Yes they are but I still have a hard time using the Saints and the Super Bowl in the same sentence. Maybe that's because the Saints have never played in a Super Bowl. Since the Saints kicked their first football in 1967, the team has been filled with misery, heart breaks and let's not forget a hurricane that almost completely destroyed the team and it's stadium. I guess all this really doesn't matter because 1967 would probably have been the only year I could have afforded a ticket to the Super Bowl. In 67 a Super Bowl ticket cost $12. The game did not even sell out causing the game telecast to be block out for a 75 mile radius of the game site. I could have probably walked up to the stadium on Super Bowl Sunday in 1967 and got in for less than $5. Have things really changed that much? They still kick, pass and punt the same way but today the only way to score a ticket to the Super Bowl is to buy it at action on the Internet. The bidding for a ticket to Sunday's game starts at $2700. That's sure more than a kick, pass or punt from $12.
Unless you live in Indianapolis you've got to be rooting for the Saints. I don't know anyone who doesn't love underdogs and comebacks so if your not chanting "Who Dat? Who Dat?" on Sunday there's something wrong with you!
Multitudes of failure and heart break since 1967 have caused Saints fans to wear bags over their heads from time to time but this year the team almost seems to have destiny on it's side. The bags are long gone but it's going to take more than underdogs, comebacks and destiny to beat the Indianapolis Colts. There is a reason for that and it's called Peyton Manning. Both teams have quality quarterbacks but Manning is the best under pressure and has the quickest release I've seen in all my years of watching the NFL. Those two facts alone are enough to insure a win on Sunday. Don't get me wrong, the Saints will play hard and give the Colts a run for their money but when when it come right down to it the Colts have Payton Manning. So on your next trip to the Big Easy don't expect to view the Vince Lombardi Trophy because the seven pound silver football will be in Indianapolis Indiana.
