Oh Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree

The perfect Christmas scene demands a perfect Christmas tree. But choosing a tree, hauling it home and keeping it green can be as stressful as choosing the perfect present. Stressful, what stress? As a kid I didn't know the meaning of that word. I just wanted the tree up so the presents could be put under it. The only real hassle I remember was selecting the right place in the living room to place the tree. Never did I bend the needles to make sure the tree was fresh, the smell was the most important thing.
Always on the day Dad brought the tree home we all thought it was the prettiest tree ever, even more beautiful that the tree from the year before. Mother was in charge of decorating the tree. It sure must have been a big job with the four children hyped with Christmas excitement, forcing their help upon her. When the lights on the tree were finally turned on they should have burned the tree down but we didn't know that so they just twinkled. We always had more balls and ornaments than branches to hang them on and if we had one box of silver tinsel we had a dozen boxes of silver tinsel. We had so much of the stuff we just threw it at the tree instead of placing it gently branch by branch.
From the time I left home at age 17 I think I have put up two Christmas trees in my house. The last time was in the late 80's when my girlfriend at the time demanded a tree. I cut a tree from the side of the road, stuck in a 5 galleon bucket and filled the bucket with rocks so it would not tip over. I guess you could say my Christmas spirit needed a little work back then.
This year even though I am still not going to buy and decorate a Christmas tree, I stopped at the Papa Noel Christmas tree tent in Bee Caves TX and walked among the trees. There were Noble furs, Silver furs, Douglas furs and Fraser furs, all at least $99 each. It all comes down to personal preference when selecting a tree although any of the four is a majestic Christmas symbol.
No matter where I am when I see a Christmas tree or what the climate around Christmas is those memories represent the soul of the foundation of family. I didn't really think of that as a kid but now I do and I don't think I'll ever lose that feeling.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree! How are thy leaves so verdant! Not only in the summer time, but even in winter is thy prime.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree much pleasure thou bring me!
For ever year the Christmas tree brings me both joy and glee!
Oh Christmas tree Oh christmas tree, thy candles shine out brightly! Each tree holds it's tiny light that makes each toy sparkle bright! Oh Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree.
