Bean Town vs Mile High city
The so called Fall Classic has been thrust upon us once again and this year the series featured Boston vs Denver. I decided never to watch Major League Baseball ever again after the 1994 World Series was canceled because of the players strike. That was the year a lot of sports fans began to complain that players are only in the sport for the money, that ticket prices amount to robbery and that every player and team cheats. It's been a long time since the 94 series was canceled and a lot of fans have short memories. A lot of fans who complained in 94 are now flocking to the games, idolize their favorite players and become distraught when their heroes are suddenly revealed to be steroid abusers. Today's baseball fan ranks somewhere between a politician and a retard, both are out of their minds. Why dose everyone demand that every player be a role model? Star athletes have become corporations with legs. They are branded with logos, slogans and are granted amnesty by a system that sets them up for failure. It's time for the sports fan to drop the Pollyanna act and all the hero worship. It's time to stop demanding super humans and let Major League Baseball know that anyone who benefits from an athletes rise to the top should also accompany their fall from grace.

All it would take is for everyone to completely stop going to sporting events for 1 week. This would bring all professional players to our level. They'd then be happy to play for normal wages! ybb
ReplyDeletePS. LR mentions that all sports have problems in one way or another. I think LR has problems! ybb
