Telling Time

The next time you are standing in a crowd, look around to see how many people are wearing a wristwatch.   You will probably see only half of the people have a watch on their wrist.  How do the other half know what time it is?   They use their cell phone to keep track of the time and more and more people are using that device instead of the traditional wristwatch.  One of these days the wristwatch may become a rare sight.
Looking down at the watch on my wrist I  wonder if there was ever a time from the age of 6 or 7 till the present when I did not use a wristwatch to tell the time.  Cell phones are replacing 20th Century personal time pieces but the phone I carry in my pocket will never replace the watch on my wrist.  Only 100 years ago people carried watches in the pockets or on chains so I guess personal time keeping has come full circle.  All I really want is a simple device that completes the basic task of telling time.  Whether a cell phone or a pocket watch I don't want to have to reach into my pocket, pulling out a device to see what the time of day is.
Without a watch on my wrist I feel incomplete.   Whether it's the Seiko I wear on a daily basis or the Rolex I wear when I want to feel a little uppity you can rest assured I know exactly what time it is at any given second.
