Pack Rat I Am Not

Pack Rats are huge nest builders.  One of the main characteristics of a pack rat is building a treasure of objects.  It does not matter if those objects or useful or not, if they like it there is no way the pack rat can resist hauling the object back to it's nest. A pack rat can be scurrying around with it's little arms full of stuff but if it see a new object the pack rat will drop everything it's carrying, picking up the new object and haul it to it's treasure chest.  The little rodent sees something new and has to have it, to heck with old stuff who want old stuff.
Over the years I've learned I can live without a lot stuff I thought I really needed.  I don't care if it's furniture, old clothes, books, shoes, sporting equipment, kitchen materials, mementos or anything else I dragged into my nest it always runs into "GET RID OF IT".  In fact I usually wonder why I was inclined to drag it home in the first place.  Just as the pack rat, I thought there was no way I could do with out it.
I would never consider myself a hard core minimalist but I have always liked living in small places.  The smaller the foot print the simpler life can be.  I'm never going to get rid of everything I own but when living in a small place one needs to be selective what is hauled into the nest.  Simply put " one comes into this world with nothing why not go out with  of nothing".  I'll leave my so called treasure to the pack rats of the world and let them haul it to their nests.  From my grave I will be hollering at them "GET RID OF IT"
