As humans we are all pretty bad about judging our abilities. A lot of us including myself think we are good at just about everything. The problem with that kind of thinking is in most cases we are a lot worse than we want to admit. It's one thing to over estimate one's abilities but it's another thing to be ignorant of those abilities. The reason our brains work like that is simple, we simply don't want to judge ourselves. If ever we do judge ourselves we tend to put ourselves in the awesome category. There are are all kinds of ways to do that. We'r better drivers, nicer, and smarter than the average Joe. just to name a few of those ways.
Superiority is such an illusion. Over estimating our positive qualities seems to be human nature so I guess that explains why the less we know the more we think we know. We all need to learn more from our mistakes and not ignore our failures so much but our brain seems to get in the way of that most of the time.
