I don't dispute the fact that the Governor has the right to exercise a line item veto but that's not what this case is about. It's about Governor Perry using his veto power to get a public elected official to resign. The head of the State Public Integrity, Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg is not the first and won't be the last Texas DA to be arrested and convicted on DWI charges. I think the Governor had other motives when he withheld $7.5 million from the Public Integrity Unit. Plain and simple, the Governor used the veto to threaten a public office holder. Governors use the veto to change legislation all the time but using that power to force an elected official out of office is corrosion or more plainly put "Blackmail"
Your guess is as good as mine as to how all this plays out but you can rest assured, his Presidential Goose has already been cooked. and Mr Perry has eaten the whole bird. Don't you just hate it when a man get too big for his britches! After turning himself in and having his felony mugshot and being fingerprinted the Governor left the Travis County Court House and headed for a local burger joint only a few blocks away. He celebrated his felony arrest with an ice cream cone. Guess he'll need to buy a buy a bigger belt because he is defiantly getting too bigbig for his britches
