"We shall not oppress a stranger for we know the heart of a stranger. We were strangers once too". Those were the words of the President when he reshaped the immigration system. President Obama had to do something about he problem. I'm just as frustrated with Congress's lack of compassion towards illegal immigrants as he is so I am glad he took the bull by the horns whether popular or not.
President Obama's plan is not whole sell citizenship. Five million illegal immigrants who have children who are legal United States citizens will not be deported. Those five million will have to pass a background check and if they have criminal records they won't qualify to stay in the United States. They will have to start paying US income tax yet will never get Social Security of Medicare benefits. Most of the five million have already been living in America for a generation, raising their kids, paying sales tax and never getting in any kid of trouble all the while doing the work most of us don't do or don't want to do. Some of those fat and happy American business owners should remember that some of those five million probably did the landscaping at their businesses once a week and cleaned their business every night.
The President's opponents will say "The United Stats of America is a Constitutional Republic not a Banana Republic". I say "when you have twelve million banana trees in your back yard harvest five million banana and make banana pudding. President Obama is force feeding that pudding to everyone whether they like it or not.
