A Brutal Job

     The United States Secretary of Defense is a brutal job.  So brutal that the Obama administration has already been through three Sectaries of Defense and recently nominated it's fourth.  This job demands a man for all seasons but that's not what America usually gets.  Although I am a huge fan of the current administration this White House tends to micro manage a little too much.  If the current nominee is confirmed it may be a whole different defense  in the White House.
     Ash Carter is a brilliant man but he is also an arrogant man!  Both of these qualities he shares with his future boss, President Obama.  The current Secretary of Defense is  the opposite, having almost a clown like mind set.  I could never figure out why President Obama chose the current Secretary of Defense  other than Obama knew the Secretary would not disagree with the administration's plan to end the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
     Who would I like to see as Secretary of Defense?  Well I sure don't want  some pocket protector nerd who thinks running a war is akin to commanding the bridge on the Star Ship Enterprise.  Nor do I want a Secretary of Defense who has been a United Stated Congressman like the last four out of five have been.  I want someone who is a strong willed independent thinker who will tell the President to piss off when need be.  The current Secretary of Defense is more likely to piss on himself than  the President.
     Ash Carter may be a risky pick but I really don't think so.  Although he has never served a day in uniform he might just be the right pick if America can't come to a nuclear  agreement with Iran.  If there is ever going to be a real war in the Middle East it will be over that issue not because of a bunch of crazy Muslims running around chopping people's heads off.  Mr Carter has a theoretical physics degree with a specialty in the structure of sub atomic partials.  That sure might come in handy if we elect to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities..
