Strawberry Shortcake

     Nabisco has come out with another new flavor in their Oreo cookie line.  Seems like every year Nabisco thinks they need a dozen or so new cookies.  Sooner or later they are going to run out of new flavors.  This year I   had to try the new flavored limited edition Strawberry Shortcake Oreo cookies.  Strawberry Shortcake is one of my favorite deserts so I was looking forword to trying the company's new flavored cookie.  Somewhat disappointed after the taste test but the cookie did pass the desert test, it was sweet!  The cookie's strawberry filling reminded me more of of Strawberry Nesquik or along the lines of cheap strawberry candy.  The color of the filling was the worst part, Pepto Bismol comes to mind.  Strawberry Shortcake Oreo's are not all bad.  I loved the wafer cookie by it'self with it's graham taste and tanned color.
      OK so the Strawberry Shortcake Oreo was a little disappointing but they are not bad cookies by a long shot.  They just did not make me think of the traditional Strawberry Shortcake desert I remember eating as a child.  The old saying "you can never go home again" is as true today as it ever was and the Strawberry Shortcake Oreo proves it.  The memories of those Strawberry Shortcakes my mother made will never fade but the memories of Nabisco's new Oreo will be gone tomorrow.
