How many times have you been told to stop sticking Q-Tips in your ears? Probably as many times as I have but I keep doing it anyway. There are a few guilt ridden pleasures in life and rubbing a Q-Tip around inside your ear canal is certainly one of them. One must be careful with those Q-Tips, too much screwing around in the old ear canal can give you ear wax impact. Basically, ear wax impact is kind of like a stuffy nose but much more painful. It won't make you sick nor is it going to kill you but you've got to deal with it. Ear wax is not rally bad. It serves as grease inside the ear canal trapping any invading particles. The ear deals with ear wax on it's own but the poor old ear can't stand you shoving a Q-Tip in it as though you were loading a cannon.
I had to learn about ear wax and Q-Tips the hard way. Even though I was told by my mother never to stick anything smaller than my little finger into the ear did I listen to her, No! Sometimes in the early 1980's I was forced to go to the doctor for ear wax impact, That day cost me a doctor's visit but now I know to shove a little carbamide peroxide into the old ear and the wax will melt away. These days I put a Q-Tip into my ears every night after showering but never pack that cannon and have not had any problems with ear wax since that day in the early 1980's when the doctor gave me a lecture about shoving a Q-Tip down my ear canal.
