If It's Yellow It Must Be Cheese

Oh that delicious Cheeseburger.  I don't know anyone who doesn't love a great Cheeseburger.  Smashed ground beef, onions, pickles, lettuce, melted American cheese, all stacked between two soft buns.  All the ingredients are pretty self explanatory except for the American cheese.  What the heck is American cheese?  Yes it is yellow like most cheese but  individual slices of American cheese reminds me of sheets of yellow plastic.  You can say one thing about the product, nothing beat it's goo factor  and the goo factor is very important in a   Cheeseburger.
Slices of American cheese never make it onto a cheese platter so I am not calling it cheese on that factor alone.  Sliced American cheese is made for one thing and one thing only, the slices go on Cheeseburgers.  OK I'll make one exception, the slices make for great grill cheese sandwiches .  Trying to convince you American cheese has any culinary value is a hard sell but a slice of the melted yellow goo can't be beat on a Cheeseburger.  The next time you pull the plastic  wrapping off a slice of American cheese simply tell yourself "If it's yellow it must be cheese".
