We Don't Talk On Our Phones

This month in 1973, Motorola presented the first cell phone.  It cost $4000 and weighed 2.5 pounds.  Now over 40 years later the cell phone has really changed.  Motorola's latest line of phones are called Motos of which I've owned one for several years.
Today we don't talk much on our phones.  Most of the time we avoid talking on that thing in our hands and send a text message instead.  I'll admit I thought  instant messaging and video calling would send text messaging to the grave yard of forgotten technology but I was wrong.  Communicating via text is stronger now than ever before.  Instant messaging and video calling is very fractured.  One system won't work with another unless both parties are using the same system   Texting is universal, any phone number will work with any other phone number, there is no need for both parties to be using the same system.  In a super busy world, most people don't have time to actually talk and wait for the person on the other end of the conversation to respond.  A text, direct and to the point can be responded to in the appropriate time according to the recipients schedule.  It won't be long before people will need to be taught phone call skills.
