The start of a new year is a perfect time for a fresh start. There is something powerful about being able to count success beginning January 1. Sadly, New Years resolutions usually head towards failure, that's why I rarely make one. Stop smoking, done that. Lose weight, don't need to. Stop abusing drugs and alcohol, did that twenty years ago. Cutting back on sugar and salt, well I'll think about it. Yes I'm pretty boring but at least I'm alive and fairly happy.
Most people go about keeping their New Years resolutions all wrong. Depriving one's self of something you want to give up is a recipe for relapse. Mental strength is the only thing that gets you to home plate. I know what your thinking "how long can my mind continue saying NO"? Just remember, it's easier to replace a bad habit than it is to erase one. Example, If you want to stop eating junk food, eat more vegetables. If you want to lose weight go for a walk. If you drink too much coffee or diet coke drink more water. If your on Facebook a zillion times a day, watch a couple of movies. Focus on adding positive habits rather than completely ending bad ones and life will take of itself.
