Single use disposable bags have become a nightmare for recycling facilities. The bags often clog up the sorting machinery and because of that many curbside recycling programs have stopped accepting them. I reuse the bags as trash can liners where they eventually end up in a landfill. That's a really bad ideal because it takes one of those bags up to 1000 years to decompose. The real reason I use them for that purpose is because I'm too cheap to buy real trash bags. OK maybe I don't save the Earth every day but at least I'm honest. During a years time I end up a huge pile of single use disposable bags and once a year I take them to the grocery store to be recycled then my collection of the bags starts all over again

Earth Day 2019
I guess we all need to stop using single use disposable plastic bags but most of us won't and never will give up the convenience of those bags. A few years ago I started using reusable bags to haul groceries home but as soon as the stores returned the single use disposable bags to the check out counter I forgot about the reusable bags and grabbed the single use bags every time. I really never did like the reusable bags. Oh they held the groceries well enough but I always seemed to forget to bring them into the store with me and would have to return to the car to retrieve them. I never knew how many bags I would need and they always seemed to end up in the bottom of the basket with groceries piled on them. In general they were a pain in the ass!

I almost always use the reusable bags. I keep them in the trunk of the car so I always have them. I do sometimes get lazy and don't use them.
