A beacon of tolerance

Hollywood is hopelessly out of touch with main stream America. Or maybe it is so infused with liberal sensitivities that it goes gaga only over movies with leftish themes. Most Americans are not homophohobic or even anti-gay marriage. They don't want anyone persecuted, prosecuted, marginalized or ignored. They want everybody to be happy. They just don't want to see two handsome young cowboy men kissing.
Liberals see Brokeback Mountain as a beacon of tolerance. The plea for acceptance that love between consenting adults no matter their gender or orientation should be celebrated is not a conservative cry. Conservatives think the liberal entertainment culture is forcing values on millions of Americans who profess purity. Simmer down people, Brokeback Mountain is only a movie
For those who have ever been in love all will admit, love is a beautiful and wonderful thing but where does it come from and what is love all about? True love comes from the heart not from the glands and if the heart is engaged the body always follows. It is romance in full bloom. It is that special person or maybe fate. The gathering of two kindred souls. The basis of love has to be trust and friendship not lust, the idea that over the long term a love grows to accept the others foibles. If this is what love is all about then Brokeback Mountain is a film of romance and love.
It is time Hollywood brought back the likes of John Wayne and Roy Rogers. You can rest assured that what little beacon of tolerance John or Roy packed in their saddle bags had nothing to do with gay issues! I will not be saddling up my horse for a trip to see Brokeback Mountain. I will just rent a John Wayne movie or dream of Roy Rogers ridding Trigger off into the sunset.
