Recently, piles of secret reports about the Afghan War were leaked to the public by an Internet organization called WikiLeaks. As I read some of the reports, it seemed to me to be a mostly one-side transparency that could only benefit America's enemies. Covert operation and unethical behavior by governments and corporations happens during every war. The fact that WikiLeaks exposed only the people they seem to hate that being the US military, only exposed the news organization's one-sided journalism. They hoped to get famous by revealing brutalities of war but failed to report that the United States of America does not employ suicide bombers who run into schools and other public buildings or fly planes into building know to be full of civilians. I don't need anyone to tell me war is horrible and that civilians will be inevitably killed but we are fighting evil here.
Get a grip WikiLeaks you are not Daniel Ellsberg and you did not leak the Pentagon Papers. Richard Nixon is not in the White House, Barack Obama is so you will probably not be painted as either hero or villain. Although lots of Americans would like nothing more than to hang you from the highest yardarm, I'll straddle the First Amendment just as I did ever so gingerly during the Vietnam War. More power to the press and let the US military drop the big one when they need to but WikiLeaks just try to be a little more vetting of your material before putting on a Daniel Ellsberg disguise.
