Get Your Ducks In A Row Before Crossing The Road

     In 1986 President Reagan launched strikes  against Libya in retaliation for the bombing of a Night Club in Germany and again in 1988 in retaliation for the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 that killed 270 civilians.  Almost two dozen years later, the United States has lead a coalition   in strikes against Libya.  This time because the country's leader Muammar el- Qaddifi threaten to show no mercy to anyone who opposed him. Qaddifi who has stock piles of Mustard Gas is the kind of dictator who would use that horrible weapon on his own people without reservation.  Once before, a Ruler in the same Region used Mustard Gas to kill thousands of his people while the world did nothing  for years.  That same mistake should not be made twice.
     Qaddafi  the leader of Libya,  for years has been one of the biggest political rights abusers in the world.  He is a miserable human, a brutal dictator, an international outlaw and sponsor of terrorism.   This thug does not need to be running a country but deposing his is not a simple task.
     Without complete agreement and cooperation of all parties in the Region, making a lasting change in Libya is almost an impossibility.  Once all the ducks were lined up President Obama decided it was time to cross the road.  Time was of the essence. There was no time for the United States Congress to debate pros and cons of duck crossing signs and that made a lot of people mad but I am not in that camp.  Don't get me wrong, I am opposed to war but sometimes morality trumps those feelings.  Besides if we had to wait for the United States Congress to agree to and install duck crossings through out the world there wouldn't be any ducks left.  Rootless dictators like Qaddafii will always try to squash any duck who's political quack is not to their  liking.
     There is no perfect formula for military intervention.  It must be used sparingly.  Condemning violence against protesters is not a mandate for military action but the complete eradication of those protesters is.  Libya is one of those special cases where the action of morality is called for.  Qaddafi is too erratic, duck crossing signs meaning nothing to him but he is fixing to find out what a flock of ducks can do!
