Big Bird Has Flown The Coop

There was no such thing as Sesame Street when I was growing up but if there had been I'm sure Big Bird would have lived in my barnyard.  Things are a lot different today.  Every thing cost much much more today so that's probably why Big Bird flew from the PBS hen house and into the HBO hen house.  Soon it will cost a family $180 for HBO plus at least another $1200 for cable television if they want their their kids to watch Big Bird fly around in real time.  I know what my father would have done if faced with such an option.  He would have loaded his 12  gauge shotgun and blew a huge hole in Big Bird at the same time shouting to everyone " it's fried chicken for everyone tonight".
Some will argue Sesame Street is only doing what it has to do to survive  but I argue it's nothing more than class warfare.  The popular show will still be shown of free Public Broadcast stations but Big Bird will be nine months behind the HBO editions.  Kids probably won't know the difference but I can possibly hear arguments breaking out all across America.  Rich kids vs Poor kids, "Big Bird did that, no he didn't, oh yes he did just wait nine month.  Poor kids all over American will think Big Bird is a fraud.
Sesame Street is a national treasure.  The show has always educated  poor children who's family cant afford private preschool  but now will reward well to do children who's family's can afford pay television.  This is just another example of rich vs poor.  I understand why Big Bird is leaving the PBS barnyard but it's kind of sad that America is being privatized by class
