When did coffee transform from a commodity to an indulgent? Coffee is just about the only affordable ritual I have left. I am not going to stop drinking it now just because Starbucks calls it an affordable indulgent! I don't care how high gas prices go I'm not about to start buying coffee made from plain tap water and coffee beans that were grown in Ethiopia.
I buy the smallest cup of black coffee Starbucks sells, $1.35 plus 10 cents tax. Considering caffeine a vice, a $1.45 a cup sin tax is not too much to pay for something that pleasures me so much. Hell, a hooker would cost me $145.00 instead of the $1.45. I just hope the day never comes when Starbucks employees have to start wearing those skimpy shorts and mid drift tee shirts like the employees of Hooter's do! I would be in a quandary every time I walked up to a Starbucks counter if the employees were wearing Daisey Dukes. Which vice would I chose, the caffeine or the sex? I don't know but I'll have a sweet roll while I am deciding.
I know how you just love your coffee !!! Maybe someday the price will come down and you can get a bigger cup !!!
