Are you one of those perpetual dieters who say you are starting a new diet at the first of every year? Do you think you have tried every weight loss technique known to man kind but seem to find a new one every December 31? Don't blame the diet! It's the maintenance that gets you every time but there is no need to diet forever. To keep the weight off the focus needs to change from dieting and losing weight to a healthy attitude towards food. Don't worry about losing weight instead strive for a lifestyle that includes a balanced menu plan of naturally prepared foods.
Most people do well within the structure of a diet. The rules of a diet define what to do and what not to do. It's those rules that come from within ourselves that gets us into trouble. Our need to indulge in comfort and spoil ourselves always reemerges. Why dose eating food need to be perceived as a gift to ourselves? I used to use the same justification when I drank "I deserve it"! It was not until I understood my historicsal behavior was I able to become sober. The historical patterns of chaos and pain in a dieters life are the same as those in an alcoholic's life. When we are presented with problems and conflicts we turn to substance for immediate gratification. We eat or drink our way out of one pain into another. If one understands his or her historical behavior, it is possible to use that awareness and knowledge to let the pain wash over ourselves helping us get in touch with the fearful and sad emotions that are consuming our mind. It is easy to find new things and ways to indulge ourselves, things and ways that are not self destructive. Being proud of yourself and your physical and emotional strengths is the first step in the appreciation and acceptance of a healthy lifestyle.
Well diet or not,,,,eating healthy is a way a life and we should all make a change sometimes....

I strive to eat to live and not live to eat!!! Makes me no difference about weight gain, I will start a new diet on 1/1/08. And that will be get healthy diet so I can be around to enjoy my grandkids!!!!!! and if in the process I lose about 10 pounds, that will just be an added spice to my get healthy plan.ybb
