Power and the Culture of Protection

The behavior of Jerry Sandusky and officials at Penn State University was as despicable as anyone could imagine.  What Mr Sandusky repeatedly  did was bad enough but the fact that University officials knew about it and intentionally  covered it up for so long is just at despicable.  That's why I feel the Penn State's football program should be shut down for at least 2 years and maybe even as long as 5 years.
It is too late to stop Jerry Sandusky  and those at Penn State who enabled him.  But it's not too late to make sure another great University never sells it's soul for the benefit  of it's  football program.  Penn State put it's football program above it's own integrity and for that reason the University must now pay a very heavy price.  Lots of innocent people will be affected when the NCAA almost certainly levies the death penalty against Penn State University.  But in this terrible situation I side more with the victims of Jerry Sandusky and the innocence they lost.
Power and the culture of protection can only survive when there is no accountability.  It's all too easy for Wrong to trump Right because that's what gives Power it's longevity.  But in the end, humanity must hold out hope that Good will eventually over come Evil enabling Power and the culture of protection to be held accountable.

Very well stated. I agree! Give Penn State the DEATH penalty and put all in jail right besides Sandusky. Or better than wasting tax payer's money...........let me take that low-life Sandusky out behind the barn...........he will not be coming back!
