Being Connected Doesn't Have To Be Expensive

Prepaid smart phones and the monthly service that come with them were once low quality but in the past year things have sure changed.  Not everyone need or even wants a smart phone but those who use them will testify these phones make their life a whole lot easier.  It was not very long ago that if one wanted a very good smart phone, one had to sign a expensive two year contract with a major cell carrier which let the customer get a $600 phone for $200-$300.  Today that's not the case.  One can buy a very good smart phone for $200 from a prepaid cell carrier and not have to sign any contract at all.
Technology evolves at the speed of light and consumer demand marches almost as fast.  There are still your cell phone minimalist but they are fading fast.  Today's generation is data hungry and demands to be fully connected 24/7.  They want a phone that meets such demands and are more and more not willing to pay an arm and leg for the privilege.
After twenty eight months of monthly service on a major cell phone company I had enough and jumped ship to the prepaid market.  I went from using a $600 phone and $70 a month for the service to a $150 phone and $35 a month for the service.  I chose Virgin Mobile because they have a plan and phone that suited my needs.  The savings I get by using Virgin Mobile vs one of the major cell carriers is almost too good to be true. Two years on AT&T or Verizon will set you back $2700-$3000 while two years on Virgin  Mobile will cost you around $950.  Is there anyone that would not like to stick $2000 in their pocket every two years?  Yes there is and they are all talking on an i Phone, Samsung Galaxy or a Motorola Droid using AT&T or Verizon.
There will always be people in the world who need a status symbol to make their life complete but more and more those same people are realizing that a phone and the service that comes with it is simply a utility
