Rape and Abortion

A  Missouri Republican Representative stirred up a hornet's nest with his comments on rape and abortion.  While he was explaining his no-exception  abortion policy he said the female body has ways to shut down in the case of a legitimate rape.  What planet is this man on?  Most six graders know more about sex than this man does.  He is not the first right wing bible thumping white man who thinks his pernicious nonsense can tell women they have no rights when it comes to their own body.
Roe v Wade made abortion entirely legal up until viability which usually occurs around twenty four weeks into a pregnancy.  Even after that date, exceptions are made for rape, incest and medical emergency.  When the United States Supreme Court placed Roe v Wade into law I am pretty sure ignorance about abortion or the lack of empathy for victims of rape had much of a bearing in the Court's decision.   Roe v Wade granted women their reproductive rights but even today biological mysticism is rampant in society.  Almost half of America supports anti-abortion views.  Most of these people claim elegance to the Republican Party because of the party's plank of no exception abortion.  If I was a female living in America today, I would run as fast and far away for the Republican party as I could.
This is not the beginning of civilization when men walked around with clubs dragging women back to their caves.  Nor is it the 16th Century when the Church made all the laws.  It is the 21st Century where visions of the 16th Century should not be tolerated and old white men with clubs should be sent back to the beginning of Time.
