Reality Has Changed

The likelihood of real change in America appears almost nil.  Each political party wants to blame the other.  With such a stinging electoral defeat, the losing party should realize reality has changed  but they seem to be dragging their heels. The losers blame their loss on the other political party's better organization.  The losers still think their stance on issues and their ideology had nothing to do with them getting  walloped.  Somehow they feel they have a right to ignore public opinion and stand firm until the cows come home.  Well the cows have come home! The rich are rich enough.  They need to be a little more grateful  of where they are,  how they got there and demand their elected Representatives act in the best interest of all Americans not just upper two percent of the population.
What's happening in Washington right now is pathetic.  Ever since the election there seems to be no ground for courage but at least the fiscal cliff agreement signed on January 1 may be the start of a turnaround.  Finally we see that politics can become an art of change.
Over all I like the agreement.  There are a few things I would like to change but compromise seems to work.  I would hate to be a Republican about right now.  Their motto of "Read my lips, No New Taxes" has come back to burn them once again.  What remains to be seen is whether their acceptance of tax hikes is merely a tactical retreat or a meaningful cave-in.  What happens when the United States Treasury runs out of money in a couple of months?  The next showdown will come in February when the federal debt ceiling has to be raised.  Will the Republicans use a tactical retreat once again as a way to get as many spending cuts as they can?  One thing is for sure, a huge standoff is shaping up.
