How We Change

The older I get the more it seems that I tend to be more set in my ways than I want to admit.  I tell myself I've changed a lot over the years but have I really?  Looking back on the years we all have to laugh a little at ourselves.  We all have done things we never thought we would.  No matter what period of our lives we single out there is all too often that skeleton in the closet we don't want to admit to.   Improvement in character and attitude is an ongoing process that should never stand still.  It's too easy to watch  character and attitude improvement run right past our lives as we convince ourselves we have changed and now we are perfect.
The real question about life is not how much we have changed but whether we continue to change.  Living in the present is easy.  Thinking we have things under control only enforces out belief we've changed enough.
I use to believe if you really looked at your life in the mirror every once in awhile, adjustments in character and attitude should come easy in the future.  But it's hard to predict the future if your worried that your past is keeping an anchor and chain on your character and attitude.
