Banning The Bag

     Austin's ban on single use plastic shopping bags has been in effect since March 1, 2013.  I don't forget my reusable bags as much as I used to but I do forget them every once in awhile.  Hearing all of the arguments for the benefits of using reusable shopping bags, the ban is still a pain in the ass.  But one thing the ban has done is  make my shopping experience much more efficient.  Buying only one or two items and carrying the items out with my hands or shopping outside Austin where plastic single use bags are still in use is my way around the plastic bag ban.
     I am not the only one who hates the ban, lots of people struggle with Austin's law.  What do you do without those plastic bags when have to pick up your dog's poop?  What do you do with all your child's poopy diapers? Plastic bags sure made life a lot simpler!
     Being completely honest, Austin's bag ban is a step in the right direction.  Maybe it will promote a more reusable mindset among Austin's population.   If there is one thing I've learned, change is going to happen and if one can't adapt then life will only get harder even if it one bag at a time.
