The National Security Agency has been in the news a lot over the last several weeks. One of their employees skipped town with four laptop computers full of the NSA's secrets. Now American citizens are all up in arms because they have learned the United States Government has been snooping on all the phone calls and internet traffic in America. This thing was bound to happen in the information world we live in. All the major countries do these sort of things. I am just glad America is much better at it than anyone else. As far as I'm concerned, the Federal Government can do anything they want with my phone and internet records, there not very exciting or earth shattering anyway.
Most of us share our whole life on social media so none of us should give a rat's ass if the Government takes a peek. To all the conspiracy theorist reading this, don't start throwing your civil liberties at me. If peeking at phone and internet records saves America from another 9/11 then you should have no problem with what the National Security Agency is doing.
Today we all live a downloadable life. If you have something you don't want anyone to know, you probably should not be doing it in the first place. America is not a Totalitarian Police State and it never will be. As law abiding citizens we are not persecuted or coerced so don't try to convince me that America is fixing to become the next East Germany. Radicalism, protest, paranoia and conspiracy theories will always reside in any Empire. Trading privacy for security is the only way any Empire can survive over the long haul.
