Fourth of July

Today is the Fourth of July so you have probably already heard  the "Stars and Strips Forever" at full volume.  This holiday is not one of those designer holidays whose date has been changes to make it a three day weekend event.  Whatever day in the week the  Fourth falls on that's the day the holiday is celebrated.  It's a day of parades, cold watermelon, BBQ and picnics in sweltering heat followed by fireworks at the end of the day.  It does not matter if you're at home or on vacation, everyone in America celebrates the Fourth of July wherever they may be.
This American holiday is really about the right of the individual.  It's origin ensures all walks of life have a hand in the decisions of government via the polling both.  No American ever need  whisper their thoughts.  Speaking loud and clear without fear from reprisal is a freedom granted under the United States Constitution.  This gift should always be cherished and we should demand it never be taken away.
America's independence has never been perfect or for that matter easy.  Throughout  history, America has struggled to find balance between desire and the rule of law but at least our forefathers  gave us a fighting chance when they wrote the Declaration of Independence. But given human nature, it's a wonder we have been successful at all.
