You've Gotta Win And Win Big

In the end the right decision was made.  Mack Brown resigned as the head coach at the University of Texas.  He could have stayed another year if he had wanted but the pressure to win big would have been too much for any man.  Mack's 16 year tenure will come to an end at the conclusion of the Alamo Bowl on December 30th.  Before his arrival on  the 40 acres, the Longhorn football program had sunk to historic lows.  It was hard to put more than 50,000 butts in the seats for a game in Memorial Stadium.  Many a game back then I watched a game from a $5 end zone seat.   Those $5 seats are long gone.  These days, 100,000 fill the stands for every game and an end zone seat is at least $70 if there are any to be had.
Mack Brown has done a lot more for the University of Texas than win football games and people should remember him for that.  But the Fan base with all it's money demand wins and the last few years those wins have not come as fast and furious as in the past.  It's time for the University of Texas to move on and choose a new head football coach who will return the football program to a top 5 finish every year.
