Let There Be Light
As of December 31 2013 a simple, reliable and affordable light source is no more. For 130 years the 40 and 60 watt incandescent light bulbs have lit America's homes. Thomas Edison's invention has been banned and replaced by second rate alternatives. The halogen, compact fluorescent and LED bulbs replacing the 40 and 60 watt incandescent bulbs are expensive and ugly. We are told the replacements are suppose to save money over the long run but in the long run I'll be dead. I like saving money just as much as the next guy but I'll never see a dine of savings because the light the new bulbs produce make it too dark to count my money. Another thing, I don't want my last days on Earth to be so dark I can't see the nurse turning up the morphine drip. Guess I better stash a few 60 watt bulbs now so I can get someone to smuggle the bulbs along with a few pints of Blue Bell ice cream into my hospital room. Really, what good is a bowl of vanilla Blue Bell ice cream is you cant see the chocolate chips. Before you know it the government will ban Christmas lights. The day Uncle Sam turns into Ebeneezer Scrooge I'm joining the Tea Party. Bah Humbug!
