I have somewhat of a sweet tooth but a great metabolism counters any weight gain coming from sugar consumption. I worry more about salt intake than I do sugar. Sodium seems to be in everything we consume. I'm sure sugar is hiding in there but it's not going to cause your heart to have a blow-out like salt will. Lets face facts, when your heart stops your a goner. If too much sugar turns you into a diabetic it can be treated easier than trying to reverse heart disease.
For years, salt has been considered enemy number one when it comes to heart health. Sodium restriction is recommended for everyone no matter what. Sugar restriction is usually only recommended for overweight people. So do I have to cut out all processed food so my blood pressure is in line with the American Heart Association guidelines? That Association might as well tie my hands behind my back because that's the only way I'll consider giving up salt. Please pass the salt shaker before they tie my hands!
