Summer has finally arrived and with it swim suit season is upon us once again. I would only be lying to myself if I said I was not concerned about self image. Most of the time swim suits are not very flattering when it comes to the human body but the joys of swimming should override those concerns, right! We all gain weight the older we get, some of us more than others. It would be nice if we could distribute those extra pounds to any part of the human anatomy we chose but that's not the way things work so our choice of swimsuits change the older we get. If your over the age of 60 they should give you a senior citizen discount when you buy a swim suit because the swimsuit is only going to get wet once or twice during the summer.
I remember how tan and buffed I used to look when wearing a swimsuit. Memories are great but memories they will stay, my days in a Speedo are long gone. I refuse to let self image determined visits to the swimming pool. If your belly flops or more kindly put, hang outs a little, it only proves one's life has grown and stretched a bit. Those thighs have gotten larger also. They are suppose to because we need all the help we can get when carrying that cooler full of drinks
Beauty and confidence is the name of the game come June.July and August. Every summer I seem to be a little rounder than the summer before but I put on a swimsuit anyway. Standing in front of the mirror I must admit, gravity and all those extra helpings have taken full effect. I try to remember the words "You Look Marvelous" but can't seem to find them. You'll never see me is a Speedo again but if you happen to run into me along the poolside my swimsuit will probably stretch to the knees. Just look the other way because I'm going to make a splash when ever I want to.
I have only had a bathing suit on once this year and it did not even get wet!!
