Having not made any New Year's resolutions in 2015 I don't see any reason to break such a streak. No New Year's resolutions for 2016! Besides who in their right mind would make a resolution they know they have very little chance keeping. Lying to one's self saying " things are going to be different this time " might work until the end of January but what about the end of June? Before you know it, you've ditched the resolution and your back to the same old routine.
Most people make New Year's resolutions because it's a popular thing to do. If you decide to make one think of it as a goal rather that a resolution. Resolutions seem so time stamped, I have to do it by a certain date or I fail. Where as a goal can be long term, obtaining a little bit at a time no matter how long it takes. Whether or not you meet such goals no one need know but yourself and that all that really matters.
It does not matter if you title them resolutions or goals, achieving them is all about control. Maintaining a steady level of control is very hard so give yourself a little leeway in reaching them. Don't berate yourself when your set schedule of achieving such needed control is not met. Easy come easy go. Things usually work out one way or another so just accept the fact that some things are not meant to be. Sooner or later reality will set in, maybe not by the end of January but surly by the end of June. Then, if you must you can start thinking about your resolutions for the coming year.
