A Dollar Buys A Lot

Small, medium or large, cities of most sizes have some form of Dollar Stores.  Walmarts are nice but they are no match for the prices one sees at Dollar General, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar.  In my case it is a 60 mile round trip whether I choose to shop at  Walmart or a Dollar Store.  A shopping trip takes a half day and usually about $5 for gas so saving a few bucks at a Dollar Store helps put gas in the automobile.
Dollar  stores have long siphoned market from all the big box stores.  It's a David vs Goliath  contest.  My shopping at the Dollar stores only began a few years ago when gas was near $4 a gallon.  Even though the economy has improves and gas is currently around $2.00 a gallon, I've continued to shop at the dollar stores for at least a third of the shopping list.  These days I shop less and less at Walmart while buying mostly at the local Grocery chains and the rest at the dollar stores
