Gun related carnage is something we've learned to live with. The massacre in Orlando was about homophobia where as the killing of policemen in Dallas was about racial inequality. Whether the carnage is defined by radical Islam or the Black Matters movement, America needs to think carefully about how these issues are handled and all the language used to address these problems. Focusing on any one of these at the expense of the other is dishonest and unhealthy. we need to find a way to talk about these problems with the complexity they deserve.
America has seen radical groups on it's soil before. The Black Panther party, established in 1966, goal was to arm private citizens to monitor the behavior of police officers and to challenge police brutality. The Weather Underground, established in 1969, goal was to create a clandestine revolutionary party to over throw the United State government.
Gun violence of any kind is never going away in America. Lets face it, there are too many groups who feel their cause is just and will use any means possible to achieve their goals.
