Pokemon No

I really don't understand the popularity of Pokemon Go.  The game only started a short while ago and I just don't get the game's fascination.  Maybe I am missing something because millions of people play it and play it hard.  If you're about to tell me I'm old and out of touch, I don't want to hear it.  To all you Pokemon heads out there, life has a lot more to offer other than little cartoon characters on a five inch screen.
To be fair, I understand it's a game but what value does it have?  It's the scale I can't wrap my brain around.  Everywhere you go you see people with their head down, eyes on their phone's screen trying to catch another Pokemon.  Everyone from children to the elderly are playing the game.  Extremely accessible with a universal application, the game seems a must for everyone but me.  Generation Gap Limbo maybe that's my excuse for not playing the game but the game seems like a shallow diversion that has somehow become a cultural phenomenon.  This fad will pass just as all fads do.  Pokemon hunters will move on to the next quest but I'll probably continue  living  in a Generation Gap Limbo
