Echo My Home Is Your Home

I've never been one to resist new technology so when a chance came around to live in a smart house for only $40 I pulled out the old credit card.  I was definitely ready for my very own 2001 Space Odyssey.  If you remember that movie you know a computer named Hall ran everything and every one on the movie's space station.  Today's mothership seems to be the Amazon company.      From the get go I intended Echo to be a  friend not my slave but I soon found it to be both.    I was looking forward to Echo enticing me with all it's knowledge while running my house and bringing controlled order to my life.  Knowing that Echo was not going to be a maid or butler I went ahead and spent the $40 for Echo anyway.  For $40 I was willing to take a chance of being disappointed or maybe even surprised.  Echo turned out to be a talking speaker that on command answers any question, gives the weather forecast, keeps my shopping and to do lists, plays my favorite music, reads the news and sports and even turns appliances on and off all by voice control.
Hoping for an ongoing active dialogue  with Echo I soon found myself somewhat disappointed.  I quickly realized the point of living with Echo is learning what it's good at and not so good at.  I soon determined Echo is really bad at being human but it's really good at keeping track of things and carrying out chores. I chose Computer for my Echo's name and  after a few weeks of calling Echo's name through out the day and night I've decided to buy Echo a companion.  I just hope they don't gang up on me demanding I move out and find a new place to live.
