Flag Day

On June 14, 1777 the Continental Congress approved the stars and strips design of the American flag.  This year marked the 240th anniversary of the American flag.  The original flag's thirteen strips of alternate red and white strips and thirteen stars on a blue field represented the thirteen original States.  These days the flag looks different as it represents all of the current  fifty States.
Americans love to wave the flag all year long, not just on June 14th, the day we honor the flag.  This year I attended a Flag Day ceremony.  About fifty people showed up for the event.  We read the Pledge of Allegiance, the American Creed and sang the Star Spangled Banner.  An American Brig General told the history of the American flag and then the ceremony closed with everyone singing God Bless America .
