Taking A Knee

     NFL players, coaches and owners knelt into politics last week.  President Trump provoked outrage in the National Football League when he suggested players who failed to stand for the National Anthem should be fired.  The President also called all the players who took a knee Sons Of Bitches.  People backing the President booed the players  and said kneeling has nothing to do with race, it's about respect for the American Flag and the National Anthem.  Players, coaches and owners  say it's about injustice that plagues people of color in America and they are uniting to oppose those who would deny basic human freedoms.

     Who's right, Who's wrong, What's right and What's wrong?  I've gone back and fourth trying to answer those questions for myself.  Colin Kaepernick began this movement during the NFL's preseason of 2016 but no matter how we feel about this issue we should all remember a  quote from President John F Kennedy.  "All Americans are granted the right to peaceful protest.  Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable". Next week  Ill write about the real reason President Trump is pissed off at the National Football League and it has nothing to do with disrespecting the American Flag or the National Anthem.  So log back in to Laywell's Lamp next week to find out the answer to that question.
