Winter Blues

It's been very cold and gluey the last few weeks in Central Texas.  There have been several three day periods where I never got out of the house.  The coldest at my house was 14 degrees.  It's a miracle I did not start feeling  glum and doom during those periods or at least listless and irritable.  OK maybe I was a little irritable but I attribute that to not getting enough restful sleep.  The older one gets it's harder to get all the sleep one really needs.  The days are shorter, holiday bills, I can't wait until spring arrives.  For some the Winter Blues are in full swing but as for myself  I've not been hit by the blue storm of Winter discontent.  Maybe it's because I do get out in the natural light some even though I do stay cooped up more than I should. Secondly, I've managed to prioritize  sleep, going to bed and sleep at the same time every night.  Thirdly I cut myself some slack during the Winter, giving myself good days and bad days and not harboring  feelings about either.  I know it's only the middle of January but I can dream of Spring can't I?
