Halftime

Super Bowl 53 has come and gone.  Did your team win?  I wanted the Patriots to win and they did so I'm happy.  It's really just a game although it's one of if not the biggest game all year long.  The build up to the actual kick off is almost to much to handle so I usually skip most of the Super Bowl news for two weeks prior to the game, along with almost all of the pre game shows that precede the game's kick off.  Almost as anticipated as the game itself  is the game day menu.  We all know the favorites.  Chicken wings, crackers and cheese, veggies on a tray, nachos, pizza, ribs, chili, sub sandwich and chips and dip.  I don't know about you but I'm tired of Velveeta  Rotel cheese dip and chips.  Chicken wings, done that several years.  Veggies on a tray, get real that's not Super Bowl food.  Pizza, only if I get home five minutes before kickoff.  Ribs, way too messy.  Sub sandwich, only if Subway is having a unbelievable sale on one of their footlongs.   Chili, I'll spill it on myself while I'm hollering at the TV.  Have to admit, most years I chose one or more of the above.  This year I strayed for the norm although old habits are hard to break.  For the appetizer it was chilled shrimp in olive oil, garlic and parsley along with imported blue cheese and crackers.  For the main course it was lasagna, salad and garlic bread.  Next year I'll probably fall back into tradition.  Now if I could only find the left over lasagna or did I eat it all.  It's somewhere in the freezer probably next to the frozen pizza and container of chili.
