University of Texas Athletics Hall Of Fame

     Grand opening of the University's Hall of Fame took place last week.  I was in attendance for the dedication of the 17.1 million dollar facility  which is located inside the north end zone of Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium.  26,713 square feet of Longhorn lore past, present and future.  Before this venue opened, most of the University's sports history was scattered throughout the campus or other University properties.  People entering the Longhorn Hall of Fame are greeted by a 8 foot tall 1200 pound Longhorn statue.  One can see a story of Texas athletics from 1893 to what the program is today.
     There are 20 sports teams at the University of Texas.  These 20 teams have won a combined 55 National Championships and 599 Conference titles.  These titles are housed in a 1400 square foot National Championship room located inside the Hall of Fame.   This was my first visit to the Longhorn Hall of Fame but I'm sure it won't be my last.
