The 2019 football season has began and I'm ready for the kickoff. Without a cable or satellite package it's time for me to choose a television streaming package. This will be my third year to choose such a package. The first year I chose Sling at $20 a month but missed lots of games. The second year I chose YouTube at $40 a month and was very happy with YouTube, missing no games. This year Sling has increased to $25 a month and YouTube has increased to $50 a month Along with the price increases other factors of choosing this years package are NCAA football schedules, conference championship games, NCAA bowl games, NFL Monday night games and the new XFL games
The first Texas Longhorn game is on the Longhorn network so no matter what I choose I won't be able to watch that game. The Longhorn's second game is on ABC so I don't have to start a streaming package until the Longhorn's third game on September 14th. On the 14th I turn on YouTube at $50 a month, turning it off December 13th costing a total of $150. This package will get me all the NCAA games including the conference championships along with all but one NFL Monday night game. On December 20th the NCAA bowl games start and since 37 of the 40 bowl games are on ESPN all I need for those games is Sling at $25 a month for one month . Now I'm up to $175 before turning off Sling on January 19th but still have to
figure in the XFL games. The XFL starts around the first week in February but most of their games are on free over the air television the first month so I don't have to turn Sling back on until March 1 and turning it off April 30th costing $25 a month for a total cost of $50. Of the 43 XFL games I'll miss 10 but that acceptable to me. Now the total football streaming package is up to $225. That will get me eight months of football along with anything else I want to watch.
You probably think I'm crazy but if you run the numbers you'll see I'm saving a ton of money and still able to watch almost all the football the average cable or satellite package account does. Eight months of either of those packages will cost at least $900 vs my cost of $225. That $675 savings will pay for the next three years of football streaming.
