One of the most expensive watches one can buy is a Rolex but what makes a Rolex so expensive? There are many watches that are just as accurate, handsome, sturdy and cost much much less. The Rolex brand has remained one of the most sought after watches for over 100 years. It is the world's number one watch when it comes to respect and admiration. It is a status symbol first a time piece second
I have owned a stainless steel Rolex for a very long time. The watch was made in 1966 and it keeps perfect time to this day. Today a new one like the one I own will cost you between $5500 and $7000 depending on the model and bracelet. A used one will set you back between $2800 to $3800. Then you have to figure in a bracelet. A cheap stainless steel bracelet only cost $65 but the Jubilee stainless steel bracelet like the one on my Rolex cost $400.
I don't wear the Rolex very often. I prefer a much cheaper and comfortable watch for everyday and especially during fitness walks or work outs. The Casio MO-24 cost $11 plus shipping at Walmart or $13.39 with free shipping at Amazon. It has a full 1 year warranty from Casio and a 2 year battery warranty and it is even waterproof. Most of the time the battery will last almost 4 years but whether it last 2 or 4 years, when ever the watch stops I just buy a new one instead of trying to replace the battery. After several years of use the watch gets scratched up or the band needs work so it is much simpler to pay for a new watch and get another full year replacement guarantee and 2 year battery guarantee.
So do you spend $11 or $7000 to know what time it is? That's really a stupid question. 99% of people would spend $11 rather than $7000 to know what time it is. I guess all this really does not matter because lots of people don't wear watches anymore. When those people want to know what time it is they pull their phone out of their pocket. As for myself I still prefer to wear a watch. Some days I want to look like I own the World so I strap on the Rolex and some days I want to look like the World owns me ao I strap on the Casio. Either way I always know what time it is.
